About WPGW Radio:
WPGW has been in
existence since 1951 when a local electronic engineer Glenn West started the AM until 1974. West is the name sake
of the WPGW call letters which is "Portland-Glenn-West."
WPGW-FM was granted to
West as a construction permit by the FCC in 73'. Both WPGW AM and WPGW FM was bought in the summer of 1974 by Bob
Brandon. Brandon launched WPGW-FM a year after taking over on May 19, 1975.
Rob Weaver took over and purchased WPGW Inc. in the 1980's and has been the figure head of WPGW ever
since.
Formats:
WPGW AM is an adult
contemporary format that can be heard at 1440 on the AM dial. WPGW AM run at 500 watts during the day and 45 watts
at night.
WPGW FM is a country
music format that can be heard at 100.9 on the FM dial. WPGW FM runs at 4,600 watts.

of Jay, Northern Randolph, Northeast Delaware, and Blackford Counties in Indiana plus Mercer and Darke Counties in
Ohio.
WPGW covers sports
for Jay County High School and Fort Recovery High School along with some Blackford High School sports.
WPGW covers a variety of college and national sports such as Indiana University Basketball, Notre
Dame Football, Indianapolis Colts, Cincinnati Reds, and IRL.
